Flyers’ Zolnierczyk suspended four games for leaping headshot on Senators’ Lundin
Philadelphia Flyers' forward Harry Zolnierczyk has become the latest to feel the wrath of Shan, earning a four-game ban for his hit on Mike Lundin of the Ottawa Senators. As it turns out, the Department of Player Safety would still prefer that players not leap into other player's heads. For this offense, Lundin has been suspended four games for charging.
I honestly dont think his intentions were to injure or to hit the head. Z kind of turns his shoulder to hit him with his back. But he did leave his skates and the head is what too the brunt of the hit, so I agree with the 4 games. Z isnt like cook who will intentionally try to hurt someone, but it happened, glad the NHL relized this and didnt screw him with more games.
It don't think there was intent to injure on that hit, he did leave his feet though. I'm starting to dislike all these head shot suspensions because the players are just being careless now. You do NOT skate over the blue line with your head down. Gotta keep your head up kids or you deserve to get fucking smoked like that.
While that last part is true, it doesn't excuse recklessness on the part of the hitter. There's no reason you need to hit a player's head, no matter what.
He did have his head down doe. If you're going full speed to hit someone and they put there head down, what you supposed to do? A double front flip twist over the nigga? It's in the rules you can't hit the head, so yeahs suspension. I get it. But I mean players can bump their own heads and someone getting blamed now. It's ridiculous.
