I just found out that my brother is gay. I dont have a problem with it but it pretty much came out of nowhere. he has
never been with a chick as far as i remember but i thought he was just bad with girls. I have to say though its a
little bit of a weird feeling, we are only a year apart. he still hasnt said anything to me yet, im sure my parents would know
but are afraid to talk to me about it. should i just ask him about it straight up? i hate secret shit i wish he would just tell
me if he is. It really wouldnt change anything about the way I feel about him. anyone else have gay people in there family?

yeah...i would just do your best to make him feel comfortable..let him know in subtle ways you don't care about what he does..and that you love him no matter what and he will confide in you and tell you

yeah i really hate that shit though, i dont like knowing stuff and hinting and beating around the bush.
I mean it would be a lie and to say i completely dont care, i have feelings about it. it weirds me out a little
when i see him now with a pic on his fb with another dude, but those are just my natural feelings that i would get used too. its not like he was one of those people who you always knew was going to be gay. i just like honesty and to think my own brother cant tell me something like that kind of upsets me. we werent really that close growing up but i still think that is something he would share so we could get comfortable with it and in like a little time he could just be himself and not worry about it. if i say something its going to be straight up, no beating around the bush stuff but idk if i should...

You could be straight up, but he might deny it. Mainly because no matter what you may say he'll be scared as to what your reaction may be and will steer away from telling you

just tell him that you know and youre cool with it. let him know he doesnt have to hide it anymore and you know it must have been hard for him for all this time keeping it to himself and bottling it up. let him know that it in no way changes how you view him as a man or brother and you'll always be there to support him no matter what. let him know its ok to be gay and that you love him.

but yeah, just ask him...it'll be awkward but it'll be fine in the end. he wont get mad...im pretty sure anyway. no reason to get mad unless he's still in the closet

well the final thing that convinced me was on his fb (im not his friend on fb so i dont know what he puts on) my friend said that there is a pic of him with another dude with a caption underneath saying "is this the new guy?". plus the kid it was with i went to high school with and we all knew he was gay. plus he never talked about girls, never caught him looking at porn, never wanted to go strip clubs, is a theater major in school etc..


i might just tell my mom that i know and she could tell him that i know and im cool with it. that way it is out in the open and he doesnt have to have an embarassing convo or anything. idk yet im gonna think about it

I wouldn't say anything. It might not be out of the question that he hadn't told family yet. If you do, just drop hints and ease it.

im sure my parents know and even if they dont i would want them to know because they would also be perfectly fine with it. the only ones that i would be scared of him telling is my old school grandparents.......

How do you know for sure that they know though? If he's only told friends, and you mention this to your parents and tell you they didn't know. He's going to find out you told them pretty quick and he might feel betrayed

i honestly dont think thats the case with our family, i have great parents and he knows that. he would prob be way more scared to tell me than my parents because we are brothers and havent been the closest in the past. we are actually getting closer now that he moved out but we only hang out at family functions, its not like we call each other to hang out or anything. i mean my parents have eyes to, he obv hadnt been with any girls, i mean im no player but at least ive had gfs and stuff. hes never had a gf and has never even mentioned girls in any way before. so to draw the conclusion wouldnt be very hard, but i always thought he was just shy and sucked with girls so thats why its a little bit of a shock for me

What I would do is ask your parents. If they have any suspicions but, like yours, are circumstantial, I wouldn't do anything. Wait until he's ready and whatever you do, don't make him out himself.

There's this venue here that shares the building with a strip club.. I remember when I was 15 my dad was drunk after a showed and kept telling me "Come on, let's just try..I'm sure they won't care" and I'm like "Dad, this is destined to fail. You already got in touble for endangering a minor, what the hell will it look like when you take me into a strip club. That and mom will kill you." He got as far as opening the door, so I did see some T&A.
