That's awesome man. The hardest part about bands is getting everyone to the same level of playing and getting recording and stage gear. My band needs stage gear and recording gear. We're all at about the same level but the other guitarist is better at writing thrash parts than I am. I'm more inclined to death parts, they just come to me easier than thrash parts. Still learning stuff too so we're all still working on everything
No you can record separately, so technically, he'd only need one channel for a Guitar I think. I don't know shit about Guitars. Might have to use a second or third channel for pedals and what not. But I just thought about it, I wouldn't even be using 7 channels.
2 Bass Drums + Snare plugged into the Drum module, then a cable from the module to the mixer takes one channel. Then each Tom (3 of them.) will be mic'd and plugged in to the mixer, so that's 3 channels, then 2 overhead mics for the cymbals, maybe 3. That would bring the total to 6. 7 if I did 3 overheads. So I guess I would be using 7, but only if I add that third overhead mic.
