Normally I say record sales matter a lot but in GWAR's case it really doesn't. People go to a GWAR show because of the show, not for the music, if you get what I am saying. GWAR is one of the very few bands that can do big headlining shows and sell as little records as they do. Dimmu Borgir would headline over GWAR just because they are far more popular, but I could definitely see GWAR headlining over All That Remains or Lacuna Coil.
okay.... do you people realize that GWAR will have nowhere near the stage show that people expect? ive seen them on several festival runs and they've never done the "blood" or anything of the sorts. They stood there, played the music, interacted with the crowd a little bit, then left the stage.
Machine Head wouldn't play much longer if they headlined the side stage, which is why I suggest they drop the long songs that cut into their set time, keep the necessary ones like Imperium and Davidian, and play 5 shorter songs like Block, Ten Ton Hammer, Old, etc.
Old is around 16-17 years old and STILL destroys most other bands' best offerings....(live)

Maybe they will stick to the third stage rotating headliners at each date
