I just read this somewhere, I don't know who this guy is, it might be bullshit, but I thought I''d post it anyway...
MAIN STAGE:
SYSTEM OF A DOWN: Rumors are running rampant that the band is reuniting for Euro festivals in the summer. It makes sense that if they arein fact reuniting that they would play in the US. What better way to return than on Mayhem Fest? If they have in fact reunited the odds are good for SOAD to play on Mayhem Fest 2011. The odds would be excellent except that SOAD could maybe make more money on their own tour.
TOOL: Probably offered a slot on the festival each year. With A Perfect Circle planning to return it is a safe bet that Tool will not be on Mayhem Fest 2011.
METALLICA: Probably offered a slot on the festival each year. The band would make more money touring on their own. It also appears as if they are on hiatus until summer for a few Euro shows and possibly the highly anticipated BIG 4 tour. It is very unlikely they will play Mayhem Fest 2011.
GODSMACK: The band has been relatively quiet since they released their last album. They are still receiving radio play from the album. This band has not been on Mayhem Fest yet and 2011 is probably the year that the streak ends. The odds are excellent for Godsmack to play in 2011.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD: The band sells enough albums and is popular enough to possibly headline the entire festival. They have a good repoire with the organizers as they played on UPROAR last summer. The problem is that A7X is not really metal enough for this festival. A7X is a great rock band but would have a hard time following in the footsteps of Slipknot, Manson, Slayer, Rob Zombie, Korn, etc. Due to their popularity and ability to sell tickets they are even bet to play this years festival.
DISTURBED: They have played Mayhem Fest before. They have a new album out. Rumor has it they canceled their last tour due to poor ticket sales. They have a good repoire with the festivals organizers (they did UPROAR too). It is possible they could be a coheadliner. Their tour dates with KORN appear to be hitting secondary markets that Mayhem Fest does not play. Odds are even for Disturbed to play.
MEGADETH: At this point the band is not enough of a draw to headline the entire festival but would be worthy of a coheadlining spot. Roadrunner Records always seems to have at least one main stage band and MEGADETH would fit nicely. Except they are rumored to be on the BIG 4 tour with METALLICA, SLAYER and ANTHRAX. Not sure if/when that tour will take place. The odds are even for MEGADETH to play on Mayhem Fest 2011.
RAMMSTEIN: There first US show in years sold out in minutes. It is unclear if they can draw well in the mid west or the south, but they will sell tickets in the north and on both coasts. RAMMSTEIN is a possibility as a coheadliner perhaps even in the 3rd spot. The odds are even for RAMMSTEIN to play Mayhem Fest.
DEFTONES: After a impressive album and much hyped tour with ALICE IN CHAINS and MASTODON, the DEFTONES are back. They have never played on Mayhem Fest. Their popularity warrants the 3rd slot on the main stage. I think they will be there. The odds are excellent for DEFTONES to play Mayhem Fest 2011.
MAIN STAGE OPENERS and JAGER/SILVER STAGE HEADLINERS:
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY: I hear they are in talks wanting to play Mayhem Fest 2011. The band even has a poll asking for fans to vote for them to be on the festival this year. Odds are better than even.
HELLYEAH: They have a good repoire with the organizers as they played on last summers UPROAR. HELLYEAH has had success on the radio and sells enough albums and tickets to fit into this category. The odds are even for HELLYEAH to be on Mayhem Fest 2011.
AS I LAY DYING: The band is at good odds to play this year, probably as a smaller stage headliner.
ALL THAT REMAINS: This band has excellent odds to play in 2011. They are popular enough to open the main stage or headline a smaller stage.
TRIVIUM: Rumors are running rampant that they have good odds to play this year. Could this be Roadrunner Records main stage band for 2011?
DEVILDRIVER: Another RR band who would be a new addition to the Mayhem alumni. Odds are even at this time.
DOWN: The deserve to headline one of the smaller stages. They are on EI Records now who assisted Hatebreed getting onto the fest last year. The Odds are even at this time.
GWAR: They have been rumored to be in negotiations to play for 2011. Odds are good at this time.
SIDE STAGE BANDS:
UNEARTH: Band has a poll on their website asking fans to vote for the band to be on Mayhem Fest 2011. Odds are even.
CRADLE OF FILTH: The band has been in talks to play the tour according to all of my sources. Odds are good at this time.
ARCH ENEMY: Angela recently stated they were going to tour Europe if they did not get on a US festival for the summer of 2011. Century
Media Records always has one band on the tour and ARCH ENEMY would be an excellent addition.
SKELETONWITCH: Fans have been demanding this band for a while. Mayhem organizers do listen to the fans...
CHILDREN OF BODOM: See Skeletonwitch
DIMMU BORGIR: They have a new album out and their record company usually has at least one band on the festival...
GOATWHORE: See Skeletonwitch
TIMES OF GRACE: Has Adam from KSE in it. On RR. A possibility.
