Ok now i know i don't have the best track record with this shit but i truly found a hidden gem with this one, and i have to thank John for it b/c without his link to the free folk metal album i never would have found this band. i present you with Temnozor, blackened folk metal hailing from Russia with deep Slavic Pagan background. Quickly this album has not only become my top choice for this years list, but its a serious contender for the best album i have ever heard. Its fairly simplistic but therein lies its beauty. it doesn't need to be technical or brutal it envelopes you in its atmosphere and doesn't let you go til the final track stops. i have listened to this album 17 times consecutively since i found it the day before yesterday and it gets better every time. Do yourself a favor and listen to the three tracks below and/or download the album, you'll thank me afterwords. \m/
also i don't buy CD's. i support artists by going to there shows and buying their merch, the REAL way they make money. sadly thou, i doubt this band will ever see the US

Having a full minute long intro in that first song you posted is a bad idea, especially for something not entirely enthralling instrumentally speaking. It took a while to get that really folky vibe going, but once they got some cool vocal melodies, it became an alright song. Really sticking to that guitar sound though, which is good. A ton of folk bands get all up their own ass with having different instruments in there that it gets annoying as shit.
Not Nokturnal Mortum, but a fairly good Soviet Folk find.
