I expected more bitching about that Detroit blown fumble call. And I'll agree it was a blown call, however I dont think it was done on purpose. I believe one ref called a fumble while the other thought it was an incomplete pass. It was close and really could have gone either way, but on review it was obvious it was a fumble. In the ref's defense... They had a meeting and gave the ball to Detroit. What else could they have reasonably done at that point in time? Nothing. It might have been a fumble-6 if the refs hadnt blown the ball dead, but if they hadnt The Saints may have got a tackle on the recovery. Basically a lot of what-ifs. I agree it sucked.... but Detroit shouldnt have let one bad call like that hurt their game. The game was called pretty even IMHO.
And Detroit played a lot better then what I expected. That game could have easily gone the other way. I think The Saints won by going on it on 4th so many times... They knew detroit could score, so they just did the best they could to keep it out of their hands. solid game plan. Had the Saints not gone for it on 4th, Detroit probably would have won

Not all that surprised Houston won. Foster and Andre Johnson are world class grade-A studs. Houston would have been a force to reckon with if they had Schaub, Johnson, and Foster. With the two they do have, not surprised they won.
Not surprised the Giants won either. They decided to show up to this game. When Eli doesnt throw INT's and they can get their running game going.... that's kinda hard to stop. Giants have a decent team, they just forget to show up or get sloppy often.
LOL @ Steelers losing to Denver. I picked the Steelers obviously because I think that Tebow is that bad.... But fuck the Steelers. Any post Season without them is a great post season.
The Bucs are interviewing Wade Phillips and Brad Childress for their head coaching job. Oh dear.....
any idea who the Lions are interviewing yet?

Both teams got hosed by that call. The whistle blew way too early, as 9 times out of 10 they let the play run its course and then let the coaches challenge if it is close. But, since the whistle did blow, the Saints should have kept the ball. Terrible screwup both ways.

nice to hear. I expected Lion fans to be more upset by it and not able to think reasonably. The whistle sucked, but I think they made the best of the situation.
That was a low blow Jay. Maybe the lowest blow I've ever received on here.
Aww I didn't mean it. >:D<

I just want them to know the fucking rules. Our defense was so awful that going up 21-7 probably still wouldn't have been enough anyway.

a) we need to beef up the line. b) the play-callers need to be replaced
there's too much talent there for us to continue floundering like this
Second year in a row that they have been straight up embarrased in the playoffs.
i know. that's why i wasn't talking more shit going into this week. they need to do something fast because their core players aside from matt ryan are all on the wrong side of 30 now.
I heard on the radio whether they should consider a coaching change or not. I think Smith is a good coach, but the playoff failures sure raise some legitimate questions.
mike smith isn't the problem. the problem is that they don't control the line of scrimmage and the offensive play-calling is awful. they have too many passing tools to be as attached to the run as they are, but their o-line just can't handle teams like the giants with a lot of pass rushers. the one high pick they've used on the line was sam baker, who's not even starting anymore. i'm not expecting them to pull a joe thomas or marcus mcneill outta their ass, but they need something better than the career backups and has-beens they have now. the defense has actually become pretty stout. they just need a pass rusher. it's impossible to stop guys like brees and rodgers and eli when you give them all day to let their routes to develop.

how is it terrible both ways? it was obviously a fumble...wasn't even close to his arm moving forward...there is no way they would have overturned the call...there was also at least 3-4 blatant holding calls the reffs didn't call...they called a hold on us....and then the next drive there right guard did the same exact thing and they let it go....and the whistle on that play...was blown right about the time we were gaining possession...why was it not blow right when the ball hit the ground? the nfl wants the saints and packers to play
*inb4blahblahitsalwaysthereffs*
we have been screwed by the reffs so many times this year its ridiculous...and its not just been us...in nearly every game this year i have seen a blown call...this is the worst year of officiating i have ever seen
we most likely would not have beat the saints any ways...our defense sucked and could not get them off the field no matter what happened
Rex....the whistle blew when the ball hit the ground, BEFORE the Lions gained possession. I was pissed, because I thought we picked up the ball too late. As it was, we were lucky to get the ball at all.
it was late either way...oh well game is over...happy with our effort this year but some changes need to be made on defense...starting with Cunningham....

But like you said... Saints would have probably won even if that whistle had not blown the play dead.
