ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Detroit Lions have agreed to a two-year deal with linebacker Justin Durant, confirming the speculation about a deal that surfaced on Wednesday night.
In case you missed it or just need a recap of what went down, here's the story: Vaughn McClure from the Chicago Tribune first broke the news that Durant agreed to a two-year deal with Detroit. He reported this after finding out the Bears were out of the mix with Durant.
Shortly after this, Dave Birkett got in touch with Durant's agent and found out that a deal was not yet complete. Yet was the key word there, as the finishing touches were likely being made while Birkett was talking to Durant's agent.
Durant himself tweeted a couple of things about heading to Detroit that made it look as though he was set to join the Lions, and now we know that he is in fact going to sign with them when that is allowed on Friday at 6 p.m.
It's still a bit too early to tell what effect this signing will have on the pursuit of Stephen Tulloch, but what matters right now is that the Lions have filled a hole at linebacker. This lessens the need at the position, and if Tulloch were to still sign, suddenly that wouldn't be a position of concern at all.

"If it's true that Lions have shot at both Tulloch and Joseph, I've got to believe reports of their cap room were way off ..."
