After they lost a draft pick for Spygate, I expected them to lose a draft pick here, at least. They couldn't go easier on them this time, even if Belichick was deemed ignorant this time.
I think this ruling is less clear cut than Spygate. Spygate was clearly a team violation, but I think this is clearly Brady looking for his preferences. I was honestly expecting them to punish Brady alone.
Almost every single player drafted signs paperwork stating that the team will negotiate in good faith if the player is injured during team activities before he signs his contract. So basically they were forced to give him the deal he would have gotten before he was hurt.
