But actually though. What do people think of Kaepernick getting the start over Smith?
What do you think about this and how it relates to concussion protocol?
It certainly doesn't encourage players to be honest. It's unfortunate for Smith, but players do lose their jobs to injury in the NFL. It happens. The ultimate judgement of Kaepernick will come in the playoffs.

Bingo
You would think the league would've had a talk with the 49ers off the record about this. Personally, I would've let Smith play until he had a bad game or something before pulling him for Kaepernick. That would've been the win/win because it would've looked a little more fair and if Smith played lights out they lose nothing. I don't understand why these teams sign free agents to big contracts when they aren't going to be behind the player. I feel similar on Seattle's handling of Matt Flynn.
Fuck that. The best player should always play regardless of politics. I hate that shit. Well this guy makes ten million more he should play. If players want to risk fucking their brain up knowing everything we do that's their choice if they lie.
You tryin to be a hero fool? You wanna see badass mother fucker?! I'll show ya a badass!!!
that would make sense if smith was playing like shit, but he wasn't. there was no discussion about him losing his job until the concussion. other players *will* look at that and not report concussions for fear of losing their jobs now.
on the flynn thing...what i don't get about that is that they courted the guy and brought him in to start, then go and draft someone else. now, matt flynn may be just fine with riding the pine for a big check, but this is likely to derail his career. that's not really fair to the player when he had other suitors that would've let him start. i understand the whole "he was beat out for the job" argument, but i can't imagine he signed with seattle anticipating to have to fight for job.
Let's face it, Harbaugh does whatever he wants. He courted Peyton Manning in the offseason and only went back to Smith when his other options were exhausted. I wonder if Smith is regretting crawling back to the Niners now. He had an offer from Miami.
Lets face it though smith was never a great qb he just kind of got by.
that's a very fair statement
Not sure that saying he never was a great QB is really a fair statement.
He never was able to compete as a passer the way other QB's did, but he was about as good as it gets when it comes to efficiency. I'll bet my bottom dollar that he ends up in the top 10 of QB rating at the end of the year and ends up #1 in completion percentage. He doesn't throw touchdowns, he doesn't throw 80 yard passes, but he doesn't throw interceptions.
Look at an elite QB like Brees, who just posted one of the greatest accomplishments of the modern NFL era. He leads the NFL in interceptions. Who would you rather have, a guy who does what Brees does and loses or a guy who does what Smith did and win? Game managers don't get the respect they deserve, if you ask me.

Harbaugh will always be Harbaugh. I think Smith made a good decision coming back, if you ask me. I think he'd have been yanked for the excitement of Tannehill by now, and I don't think he'd want to really go anywhere else. Now he's a pretty big trade target in the off season.

Jovan Belcher killed his girlfriend then drove to Arrowhead's practice facilities and killed himself today. Apparently there were witnesses, and potentially another victim.

Just heard that on 66 WFAN New York though they didn't name the player.

Just curious as to where you got the name of the player...
