Best bet for 9ers is to just put it behind them and make sure they take care of business when they play the Cardinals for their last game. Yes, they are probably going to lose when they go north to Seattle in 2 weeks... but if they can win the rest that's like 10-5. Maybe it will be enough.
Not really. So the only scenarios in which the 49ers can make the playoffs are if one of Detroit, Dallas or Seattle lose at least 2 games.
Sort of hard to find 2 losses in there for everyone except for Dallas, who are going to go 8-8 anyway. But even in that case, the 49ers have to beat Seattle on the road, and then the Chargers and Cardinals at home. So yeah, the 49ers have like a 80 degree climb uphill to make the playoffs, and I don't see it happening unless Dallas fulfills their destiny and loses out.
It would probably be one of the funniest things in NFL history for a team that has gone 8-8 for three consecutive seasons to start out 6-1 and then go 8-8 again.
