Chargers went 9-7 this year and made the playoffs because 2 teams in front of them blew it and the final team they faced sat all their starters. They finished 7-9, 8-8, and 9-7 the 3 seasons prior. They're about the same :-??
Dont get me wrong. Now that they're in, they can definitely do some damage. I'm worried. But they still lost a lot of regular season games to inferior teams.
that's my point though. they wasted all the years when they had vincent jackson and prime antonio gates/ladanian tomlinson and healthy shawne merriman/marcus mcneill. now their talent is thinner, but they've actually made a step in a positive direction

They have the exact same record doe How is it a step in the positive direction if they won the same amount of games? If Baltimore or Miami had won in week 17 everyone would be talking about how the Chargers missed the playoffs again and how its the same old shit. They got lucky.
Not when you're talking about if the Chargers have improved over the past 4 years. They've dabbled around .500 for the last 4 seasons. The fact that they happened to make the playoffs this year doesnt magically make them a better team.
