Yeah, Lovecraft "invented" it. It is a fictional book...but this raises the question. If a certain amount of people believe in something so much, even if at its start was fictional, would it end up making it real? I would throw an example out there but I can't think of a good one at the moment. Only thing I can think of is the Satanic bible and how that was written. Now a lot of people live by it and so forth

i did a search on Amazon and they had a Necromincon book as a companion to the Satanic Bible and that isnt the book i had either. Had the same symbol on the front, but the text was all different.

If that's the case, then it wouldn't surprise me that there's all different types of Necromincons out there. Just people re-writing it and tweaking things I guess. Kinda like what happened to the Bible

Yeah, I was about to say that.
The Necronomicon was a book that was in one of Lovecraft's short story's, it raised the dead and stuff.
A compilation of all Lovecraft's stories was released titled the Necronomicon too.
I didn't think it was an actual thing.
