Found out over the weekend I am double jointed! And It kinda floated my boat. Here's what happened:
A week ago my oldest daughter was showing me what she could do with her arm and I said "Wow! You are really double jointed!" And she went and told my wife that I said that, and my wife said that I was 100% wrong. that she wasn't double jointed. Now Im no expert on this sort of thing, but was pretty sure what she could do was considered that. Well On Saturday we went and had dinner with a family friend and my wife was retelling the story how I said my daughter was double joined. Just so happens that the family friend is a child physical therapist. So we called my daughter over and she said "WOW! Don't do that anymore. You have a very extreme case of hyper-extension which has the casual name of being double jointed. You dont really have an extra joint, but that's a very extreme case of hyper-extension of your arms." So that floated my boat that she said my wife was wrong )
She went on to say that it was odd cause hyper-extension is usually genetic. And we both said we didnt have anything like that. Then she started running off other examples of having hyper-extension. Turns out that you shouldn't be able to touch your thumb to your wrist. I can lay my thumb flat on my wrist. She was freaking out about that too.
How the fuck do you think that's normal for 40 years?
for starters I'm 37. Secondly, I've never compared with other guys the flexibility of my hands. You have? It's not like I can touch my thumb to my wrist by itself... I can only do it by applying pressure from my other hand. And frankly that isnt a normal thing I do daily. I am only bending my thumbs and fingers when I crack them which I dont do around others to not be annoying. I just figured everyone could do that. I thought it was normal... So why would I ever ask anyone if they could do that?

Im not saying I didnt know I could do this... Im saying I thought everyone could do it. I didnt realize that was a double jointed thing. If I thought everyone could do it, why would I show it off? Like I said, it's not an obvious double jointed thing IMHO
