We got an email last night saying they're not sure when our apartments would be back up to the shape to move in so we'd be staying in a lounge. I do not feel safe in a lounge so I was racking my brain all night trying to come up with a list of people that would put me up in New Brunswick. First person I tried was my friend Lauren who lives off campus, she said yes within 10 seconds of me asking her. She lives a 13 minute walk from my classes. I love my friends.
Well, if they're not, I have a backup plan. I think Henderson is last in the list to be fixed. I already sent our hall director an email last night asking about the stupid lounge situation. Never got back to me.
Hi Brittany, At this time, the building does remain closed due to lack of power. It comes down to a safety issue. When there's no power, the sprinkler system does not work, and becomes a very big fire safety hazard. Please know since Henderson is completely closed at this time, swipe card access does not work, and no one is permitted to enter the building on their own. The lounges have only about 10 people living them at the moment, so it is not overly crowded. If Henderson does not open until next week, I would suggest bringing any very valuable items with you to class instead of leaving them unattended in the lounge. Henderson residents do not have swipe access to Lippuncott at this time. The AAs on duty can help let you into Lippincott. Also, the Lippincott RAs can help as well. If there is any important items you need from your Henderson apartment today, you can call the Student Services Office to work with staff there to see if they can help you access the building. Staff will only be available until 5pm today, and they cannot help you access the building in the dark as there is no power. I hope this information helps for now. Please be on the look out for more information as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience & cooperation during this challenging time. Thank you,Nicole
