Residents of Trenton and four surrounding Mercer County communities are being advised to boil water before drinking it.
That's because Trenton's water plant is having problems treating water due to the high level of the Delaware River.
In addition to the city of Trenton, residents of Ewing, Lawrence, Hopewell and Hamilton are being advised to boil water.
Officials said the heavy flow in the Delaware has forced them to draw from a water reservoir reserve. That's reduced volume of treated water to only one-quarter of the normal 28 million gallons per day as of Monday afternoon.
Officials did not know when the advisory would be lifted.
The Delaware is running higher than normal following last
week's torrential rains.
