It spawned more games like Mass Effect, which I really don't like at all. And it popularized FPS for the consol. It was groundbreaking for XBOX, not everything.
regardless of whether you like it, mass effect revolutionized how a story can be told though the medium. making choices you made carry weight throughout multiple games

you don't have to like it to realize what its done for RPG's this console generation
To me, it's a shooter. Not an RPG. It's just the new generation shitty RPG's that are molded to sell because everyone knows the most popular games out there now are shooters. The number one most popular are FPS. It's sad RPG's went down the drain but oh well....other things will too
