Even if they didnt want to emulate the perfected f2p that Dota 2 created, they could have at least followed LoL, Smite, or even their own Heroes of the Storm.... Overwatch being a full priced game is lame as fuck.
Even TF2 is 100% free and that's their main competitor right now.
I would be willing to pay like $20 for it. But $40-60 for a multiplayer only with no story mode game is lame as fuck. Especially after many games have made the f2p model work for just as good games with similar amount of content. I'll be giving Quake Champions the same shit if Bethesda pulls this too.
I mean one moba map with different skins is infinitely less difficult to impliment than 15 first person shooter maps across 4 different game modes. Mobas essentially operate in a 2d space, while Overwatch has to deal with every nook and cranny of every map. And being in first person requires the maps to have waaaay more detail in order to look high quality.
Also you dont have to spend money to get items in Overwatch. Free random boxes with every level up, which drop cosmetics or in game currency to directly buy the cosmetics you want. I havent spent a dime on cosmetics yet i have good shit for every character

TF2 didnt go free to play until like 5 years after release and that was to revitalize a dying player base. Overwatch will follow the same path I guarantee it.
I wouldnt count on it. Summer Games special event just ended and Season 2 of competitive just started. The game is peaking right now. I wouldnt expect it to go under 30 for another year or so. Or black friday.
Damn draft champs is lit. It basically gives you a team full of low 70s players and you draft 15 rounds. Each round has 3 players to choose from at different positions and you just have to choose what you wanna focus on.
