I am so glad i stayed away from this game the last 2 years. The wait was going to be unbearable so i basically just decided to forget it was even being made. I didn't really know shit about it except for the time frame until the last week. I didn't even know the FOB stuff until you said something. Im so glad i did that because it made the release sneak up on me. 4 fucking days :!!

"The game adapts to Big Boss' changing toolbox of espionage tactics, however, and as you eventually come face-to-face with heavily armored soldiers, you'll find that your tranquilizer gun isn't nearly as effective as it was in the early portion of the game.

    But

The Phantom Pain offers a counter-strategy to that counter-strategy. Some of the game's deployment operations, in which you can send Diamond Dogs off on remote missions, are designed to intercept enemy shipments of, say, helmets and riot armor — the kind of stuff that neuters your tranq darts and headshots. It's just one example of the interlocking systems and incredibly fine details that makes The Phantom Pain so impressive."

    :DDDDDDD>>>>>>>>>

Yeah i watched 2 45 minute videos. I think they were either e3 and gamescom presentations. One showed the FOB system and one showed them doing the same mission 3 different ways. Was badass.

Yeah i watched those right after you mentioned the FOB.

I believe it was E3 and gamescon. was amazing

    Visually the game looks outstanding.

Apparently with the draw distance they programmed the plants ext. to gradually fade in so its much less noticeable. I guess this is the first game to ever do it so i am very excited to see this engine work its magic.

But it’s the game’s ruthless artificial intelligence that ties it all together so superbly. The Phantom Pain sports the most unpredictable, exploitation-resistant opponents we’ve seen in a sandbox game. Though they run through all the classic Metal Gear-ish paranoia loops, they’re capable of far grander collaboration and topographical awareness. If alerted, they’ll swarm your last known position, then spread out to probe logical escape routes. Favor night ops and they’ll don night vision goggles. Favor headshots and they’ll start wearing metal helmets.

    ^:)^

Yeah i'd say it has some of the best graphics i've ever seen in a game. And thats through youtube's shitty compression. Gonna look amazing in 1080 on the big screen.

It sucks Kojima is only getting one game out of the fox engine. Silent Hills graphics looked fucking amazing as well.

Yeah. Here's to hoping they don't bogart the Fox engine

The engine belongs to Konami i'd assume? After all the drama with Kojima i cant see them allowing him to use it in the future.
  • Rex_Capone420Rex_Capone420 Posts: 70,026 spicy boy
I believe it does. i'm sure youre correct. I wasn't really talking about Kojima more so other companies.

I wonder what direction he's going to go in. I wonder if he has any new franchise ideas :-?

So what happened to this dude?
  • FIRENATHANIELHACKETTFIRENATHANIELHACKETT Posts: 35,453 spicy boy
The only other game made with the engine is Pro Evolution Soccer =)) it'll prolly just be used for shitty Konami games like that.

if Sony or Microsoft were smart they'd hire him to do console exclusives and let him run his own studio

No one knows what happened. But Konami is firing him as well as his whole staff after MGS V releases. They also took his name off of all the box art and promo material.

They also cancelled the Silent Hill game is was making with Guillermo Del Tero and the guy who plays Daryl in the Walking Dead

I love that Kojima has his name show up every time in the corner when missions start = ))

This game store in Australia made a bunch of posters that say "A Hideo Kojima Game" and stuck them all over the shelves where MSG is gonna sit =)
