The album is known for its bloody cover art, depicting a Barbie doll on a crucifix and a knife impaling a bible, which nearly prevented Staind from gaining a record deal. In 1997, Fred Durst tried to prevent the band for opening for Limp Bizkit in Hartford, Connecticut solely due to the disturbing album cover. He was unsuccessful and, upon hearing the band's performance, changed his view of the band, eventually signing them to Flip/Elektra Records.

i remember some interview he did back when staind had gotten popular, that he "didn't want to be associated with an 'i hate religion' band." Was the 90's really before atheism and all that jazz became more mainstream, or is durst indeed a big pussy

Agreed, they really impressed me when I got to see them. Would love for them to come back around cause I'd try my best to be there for sure.
