WOBURN, Mass.—Production of the world's first "flying car" will be taking off from Massachusetts.
Terrafugia announced Wednesday that it plans to begin low-volume production of the company's Transition Roadable Aircraft at 19,000-square-foot facility in Woburn.
The company -- which is headquartered in Woburn -- said it considered several other locations around the U.S. and the world for initial production, which could begin by late next year.
Terrafugia says plans for long-term high volume production have yet to be determined.
The car-plane has wings that unfold for flying and fold back up for driving on normal roadways.
The vehicle is expected to cost between $200,000 and $250,000

I think the only way flying cars will really work is if they are vertical take off and landing. You know with this people will be using highways as their personal runways.
I WANT TO TELE COMMUTE
...we don't need roads.
....when i win the lottery.
This would work great if you're running from the cops and are coming up towards a huge canyon or something.
You can already put a $10,000 down payment on one of these things here > http://www.terrafugia.com/index.html
The site even includes info on how to get licensed to fly these things with only 20 hours of flight time.
