I never said it was going to. But for every crime there is a punishment. Murder is the worst crime, therefore it should have the worst punishment.

And it is actually more expensive to give someone the death penalty than it is to keep them in prison for life.

No it does not. Most people stay on death row for an average of 10 years. Within that 10 years, you have to account for the food and shelter of a regular inmate, but more importantly all of the legal costs. There are a shit ton of appeals when it comes to someone on death row. The cost of the appeals (lawyer costs, etc) USUALLY amounts to more money spent than someone who spends life in prison.

Trust me man I had to do a whole report on it in American Government.
