No it does not. Most people stay on death row for an average of 10 years. Within that 10 years, you have to account for the food and shelter of a regular inmate, but more importantly all of the legal costs. There are a shit ton of appeals when it comes to someone on death row. The cost of the appeals (lawyer costs, etc) USUALLY amounts to more money spent than someone who spends life in prison.
