Because if you are, then 1/X^P integrated from 0 to positive infinity is always divergent. That's called the p-test.There are a couple special cases though:If you're integrating 1/X^P from 0 to 1, the integral is convergent if p < 1.If you're integrating 1/X^P from 1 to postive infinity, the integral is convergent if p > 1.1/X^P when p = 1 is always divergent.

There are a couple special cases though:
If you're integrating 1/X^P from 0 to 1, the integral is convergent if p < 1.
If you're integrating 1/X^P from 1 to postive infinity, the integral is convergent if p > 1.
1/X^P when p = 1 is always divergent.
