Somebody people quote too much. Some don't quote at all like me and eventually stuff like that happens haha
Thinking about getting a dog. My sister and brother in law bought a miniature bull terrier puppy because they wanted a new dog for the kids but also for the purpose of using him as a stud with their friends mini. They're expensive as hell pure breed and since he's the stud I guess she gets her pick of the litter. Homeboy just started work last week and she said if I want one I wouldnt pay much at all.
We've been here over two years and that's why we haven't gotten a dog yet. I've had dogs all my life but they've never been fully my responsibility and I know how that's a huge hurdle that until now I've never really felt the desire to make. The other problem I'm facing is that the dog will pick a favorite and in not sure I can mentally handle it not being me.
Are you tryna split a dog with your roommate or something? I'd just get my own if I was you. Once the dog realizes who feeds him, takes him out and all that shit, he'll know who his 'favorite' is.
My dog likes everyone equally. Its weird. She sleeps in my room doe. I got lucky on that front. My dog has been potty trained since she was 8 weeks old. I think shes gone to the bathroom twice in the house since we got her. I have another friends whos dog is 6 months old and still goes in the house.

That's basically the problem. We've been best friends since middle school and we're also both loners that spend a lot of time with the doors closed. That would have to change entirely.
Yeah get your own dog. I was thinking about splitting a boat with my roommate next year cuz we're about to live like 2 miles from a big ass lake but we don't know how long we plan on living with each other. He's about to graduate next month and he's had the same girlfriend since like sophomore year of high school so I have a feeling they're probably gonna move in together after our next lease is up. A dog would be different doe. When you do eventually part ways, one of you isn't gonna wanna give up the dog. I doubt you plan on living with this dude for like the next 12-13 years too.
Sounds easy when you say it like that but we've both been wanting a dog since we moved in. Splitting costs seems easiest but to make it my own I'd basically own up for the cost and initial vet bills. Plus I'd probably pay for obedience school because they are little balls of craziness so it'd be nice to kind of get a hold on him. The secret trick I have that he doesn't is the fact that I know my mom would be happy to help me with the startup costs since even with the deal I'm sure it'll be expensive.

I'm just thinking long term. I know I couldn't split a dog with my roommate cuz we're not gonna be living together for much longer. Certainly not for the life span of a dog. You should both get your own dogs if you can afford it.
That's pretty much what I keep coming back to. You're definitely right about not living together for the lifespan of the dog. He already went through a situation kind of similar to this. Our mutual friend had an apartment and had gotten a rescue dog when he stayed there one night....and then never went home. He lived on his couch for about a year but didn't have a job most of the time so he took care of the dog. Basically was the only one taking her out and usually the one feeding her. I'm pretty sure she's still more attached to him because the fucking dude was always there with her when the others were at work. But yeah eventually the other guy rented a new place when he had a kid and took the dog.
The more I think about it the more I think two dogs can me done as long as we don't get them exactly at the same time. I can't handle twice the messes but if we can get set up and have one trained pretty well first and as long as they aren't huge, I think it isn't a terrible idea.
That's the other reason. It's just bound to go badly getting two at the same time. I won't leave my chargers or other random shit I care about on the floor though.
as long as you give the dog tons of attention and things to play/chew on they won't chew on most of your shit. My 250$ headset and phone charger chill on the floor 24/7
