I'm not entirely sure if I plan to stick with shooting for the other website/magazine. They all just seem incredibly uptight and supr srs all the fucking time. Made a dumb movie reference and they gave me this whole "we don't play" bullshit. Kinda getting a "shut up and just do whatever we tell you to do" kind of vibe from it all.
It's like, yeah, I'd actually get paid to do much bigger shows than I've done previously. But, idk, some of this just doesn't feel right.
All it was was everyone introducing themselves, "hey, what's up/how's it going" kinda thing. All I said was "Hey, my name's Rodd, and i like to party.". Not exactly original, but harmless. But then they're just ;like "This is to be a business discussion", "we don't play" and whatnot. Like, dude.....okay. But yeah. I'm helping them with an MMA fight on Saturday, see how they are in person. If they're a bunch of shitheads and i don't care to work with them, I'll shoot Tool on the 28th then say fuck it. Maybe, idk.
I have met two of the 3 guys before, and we weren't even discussing business of any kind at the time. I wasn't necessarily trying to be funny, I watched that movie yesterday and it popped in my head. They understood the reference, but was just kinda whatever about it.
Idk, I'm not very interested in 100% serious all the time shit. I can be and have been when I'm shooting shows/doing interviews, but I like talking to people in the process. The owner even said that when I do interviews, I'm to keep it to 5 questions or less per interview what kinda bullshit is that. He says he only ever writes one question, and then will ask 2-4 follow up questions depending on the person's answer(s). The 3 sites I've helped out with have never been about that bullshit, we did/do this because we enjoy it, and because we think it's cool. I personally see free concerts as payment. I may not make money right now, but if i can go to 30-40 shows a year and not pay for anything other than food....I'm good with that. Sure, getting paid a few bucks to shoot shows here and there would be nice, but not at the expense of conforming to whatever stuck up standards one guy has. idk.
Gonna do the MMA fight, Tool on the 28th, Def Leppard/Styx on the 30th, then decide from there.
