Like I understand people who are open minded in art and have already reached the capacity of conventionality seek out other alternatives but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. If you find yourself liking something simply due to the fact that it's different then you hit that line
Death grips is one of those bands people say they like to sound cool cuz it's experimental.. A play right out if someone like brian's handbook.. It's why some people like half the noise/grind garbage. Pass
I listen to noise and grind, and Death Grips sucks.
Grind can sometimes have some redeeming qualities like napalm death but noise is pretentious garbage. The only thing close to noise that's anything worth listening to is pretty much sunn 0)))

i can see where you're kinda coming from but i'm attracted to noise and ambient because of the sonic textures. Also noise is a viable way to express certain emotions that you can't really accomplish otherwise.

Idk ambient is kinda different. I feel like you're trying hard to find something in noise because it kind of brings a thrill knowing that you can open your mind to considering that music lol. Give an example of a noise song and what it specifically does for you. Maybe you can change my mind

Sunn is more drone, not straight noise.
I agree genre nazi but it def has noise elements at times hence why I used the word close

I'm just saying, Sunn has more in common with a doom metal band, than a noise band. And that's probably why you like them.
Most the noise I'm exposed to is whatever noise metal bands like Primitive Man and Indian throw into their music. I don't listen to much straight up noise myself but there's a community radio station that plays it in the area when ever I tune in and it's noise I'll listen. Again, I think for me it's really the sonic textures that attract me. Plus I love gnarly guitar feed back, especially in grind bands like Dead in The Dirt, so noise is like that but w computers. It's not something I seek out, but I can appreciate it.
I like noise for a variety of different reasons. Mainly mostly all noise recordings are improvised. I like the exploration of sound textures, and different frequencies. Certain noise artists (especially in the electronic noise scene) get some really weird and interesting sounds out of synthesizers, and through manipulation of sound waves. I just find it interesting.
For instance, I like Nihilist Spasm Band, because they're recordings are 100% improvised, and they play using homemade instruments. Which I find really cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ERTEtZB8Iw
Noise isn't really music to groove to. Its not meant to be. Its mainly for sound nerds to hear it be manipulated.
I'm not really a jazz guy, I have tried multiple times but I've given limited listens to free jazz. It dies nothing for me. IMO it seems like it's mainly just a drug enhancer lol
If I just played random shit on my guitar for an hour without even really thinking about it at some points in that hour you'd hear things that were prob rather interesting just by accident. Is that really art?
