"We have received a word that former Against Me! drummer Jay Weinberg is the new drummer for Slipknot, replacing Joey Jordison. Jay has sat in with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band to fill in for his father, drummer Max Weinberg, when he was ill in the past.
While we cannot confirm this to be true (only the band can do that) we can verify that Jay left his former band Against Me! in January without telling them why via a tweet according to this interview with the Against Me! vocalist:
What happened with Jay? I know he was a big fan before he joined, and he always seemed so thrilled to be in the band. When I saw him play with the band, he was always mouthing the lyrics while drumming. To be honest, I have no idea. He never said a word. I just woke up one morning and read on Twitter that he was leaving the band.

It is interesting to know he left that band in 2012, before Joey Jordisonwas kicked out/parted ways with Slipknot. While we have no evidence to support this rumor we decided to pass it along as we think there is a good possibility this rumor will turn out to be true."
