These two girls had a scheduled debate today on the ethics of stem cell research, and embriotic stem cell research. After their debate, my teacher started a class discussion on the ethics of in vitro, more specifically the ethics of choosing the traits for your children and rejecting (or by extension aborting) children who would be born with birth defects, like downs syndrome. The majority of the class believed that picking traits was unethical, and that some things should just be left to nature and fate to decide.
Then a girl chimed in, and said something to affect of "well some people don't want to take care of a sick child".
To which I replied, "if you aren't willing and wanting to take care of your own child, even if it is sick, then you shouldn't be having kids in the first place".
Then applause. My teacher was like "what the heck? I never get applause for saying anything."
i dont know why but lately after coming home from a show at like 1 AM i get coffee at my local dunkin donuts thats open 24/7. even though im pretty tired i still do it
