but the reason why their prices are so low is directly related to the reasons in why they are a shitty company that is horrible for our country..if you treat your employees right then those prices go up..so essentially what your saying is youd rather other people be miserable then to suck it up and anti up a few more dollars..im sorry but thats a little sad i dont know what else to tell ya
Walmart also has a nice little tax evasion scheme going to help get their prices down. I can't remember the exact details now but it's like there are three versions of the company, and the one that makes money isnt the stores, but some other company which is located in a place that makes it tax friendly for it. I wish I remembered the exact details
Walmart isnt the only company that does this. For example... Microsoft has 40,000 employees in the Seattle area. They own an office in NV that staff's 10 people. That office of 10 is responsible for 100% of their software sales. Since the money isnt made in WA state, they dont have to pay WA any tax on income made in their state. The state tax laws are written that way such that when a company hires a lot of people (like Microsoft) that Microsoft helps pay some of the burden on the increased infrastructure the city has.
Microsoft found a nice little loop hole to get out of that. lots of companies do... Walmart is excessively guilty of this.

No, I just don't give a fuck. Wal-Mart's cheap, and close. And me being one person shopping there, when it's a multi-billion dollar industry, or not shopping there, is gonna make absolutely no difference. I actually prefer Meijer, since it's a lot cheaper, but since the closest one is 30 miles away, I don't give a fuck, and will continue to go to Wal-Mart.
Economics man. Shop where you get the most for your money. Places like WalMart and Costco are like that.
a pretty irresponsible statement coming from you sir.. walmart is a sad sad part of america where the stupid public cant pay a few simple dollars more for the betterment of others well being and the boverall betterment of the country..
Input versus output. Wal-Mart wins every time.
I don't shop at Walmart for the reasons that most people don't. It's just not a good thing to do to take your business there. Can't pretend like I don't understand why a lot do though. If I earned a lot less I definitely would go there.
if i only bought items from companies that i found's practices met my own moral requirements, i'd prolly never buy anything. i'd just end up sitting in a hut somewhere trying to carve chess pieces all day or something. if its not wal-mart that's using our addiction to convenience against us, it's a chicken company selling wings with tons of nasty drugs pumped into them or a toy company that makes guns that break the first time you use them with zero fucks given. it's inescapable here. capitalism is a big trap
Not really, it's just built to benefit certain people.
The market doesn't understand the power that they collectively have, so until people become really smart (hint, it won't happen), businesses have the upper hand.

Friend: So what are you doing tomorrow?
Me: I'm going to go see Iron Maiden with Christina and Khang (friends of ours)
Friend: Oh.........who?
Me: Iron Maiden, you've never heard of them?
Friend: Um, no, I don't think so.
Me: Well Coheed is opening for them, that's who they're (the people I'm going with) mainly going for.
Friend: Oh yeah I know who that is! Just never heard of that other band...
Me:
And this is coming from a girl who knows all the lyrics to pretty much any rap song I've ever heard. So disappointing.
