Why did we bring sigs back?

Honestly, is there really a need for html sigs?
Is it really fair for everyone else on the page to have see a fucking bus of clones, or 2 ufc fuckers rolling around on the ground, or some dragonball z shit 100 times per page?

Can someone explain why we need that?
I truly cant understand why everyone likes them so much...
