Wikipedia says about 10,000 people attended the show I saw....about 70% full.
We have an indoor venue that holds about 12,000 max. Metallica played there in 2010. We also have a couple of outdoor stadiums where U2 etc have played to crowds of 40,000-50,000. Maiden played at one of these stadiums several years ago and I was surprised that only about 16,000 showed up
I think Maiden has over estimated their popularity in the states. A lot of the venues have been at 60 percent capacity or less. I really think they should consider a price drop.

"Harris also reassures fans that Iron Maiden are definitely not finished, but that the time the bassist dedicates to his solo project may result in Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson making another solo record of his own. “I think Bruce will do another one,” begins Harris. “We were talking about my album the other day and I think it got him thinking that it’s been 10 years since he last did one. So it’s probably time he did another one. Maybe this will prove to everyone that you can be in Maiden and do other stuff as well. And there’ll definitely be another British Lion record. I want to do more things with Maiden obviously, but if some of the guys decide that they don’t want to do as much in the future, then I’ve got this as well: this is my safety valve, because what else am I gonna do? I want to cram in as much as possible before I kick the bucket."
This fall, British metal legends Iron Maiden will reissue the first eight albums of their career on limited edition vinyl, the band announced on its website. As befits a band known for their visual element, the records will released as picture discs.
The project will commence on Oct. 15 with the release of 1980′s ‘Iron Maiden’ and the following year’s ‘Killers,’ with 1982′s ‘The Number of the Beast’ and 1983′s ‘Piece of Mind’ arriving a month later. The new year will kick off with ‘Powerslave’ (1984) and ‘Live After Death’ (you guessed it, 1985) coming in January 2013.
1986′s ‘Somewhere in Time’ and (finally, they took a year off!) 1988′s ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son’ will round out the collection in February. All albums will be released on heavyweight vinyl remastered from the original tapes. They will be packaged in gatefold sleeves with full color artwork on the inner bags.
The release is to commemorate the ‘Maiden England‘ tour, which is heavily focused on the songs from those classic records made between 1980 and 1988, with an emphasis on ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.’

"According to an interview with Steve in the German ROCK HARD mag, Maiden England DVD will be out first half of 2013.
Steve says that he has to do a lot of work on it, especially on the encores which were left out on the VHS.
Furthermore, he confirmed that Maiden will be around for quite some time!!!
Will read it in detail when I get home from work.
EDIT: other points from the interview:
- Steve painted the British Lion cover - Steve thinks of British Lion as a band not a Steve Harris Project. The next record will be under name "British Lion" (Skunkworks anyone? :LOL - Steve really digs the new NIGHTWISH lineup. much better than the old singer - BL songs are more direct than Maiden. He mentions LOVE and GETTING OLDER. - there are NO demos with Paul Di'anno unreleased - Steve doesn't want to release the existing SMILER and Gypsy's Kiss live material because It's lacking quality - Maiden will carry on for quite some time. He doesn't know how long. Expression used "Count on us for quite some time" - Steve wants defo to tour BRITISH LION. There's nothing planned because they don't know what to expect. 200 people? 500? - Maiden England release first half of 2013 as mentioned on my original post. WITH ENCORES."
