More Details Emerge In Death Of SLIPKNOT's PAUL GRAY - May 24, 2010 New details have emerged surrounding the passing of SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Dedrick Gray, who was found dead this morning in an Iowa hotel.
According to DesMoinesRegister.com, Gray, 38, was found dead at about 10:50 a.m. today by an employee at Towne Place Suites, 8800 Northpark Drive in Urbandale.
Gray checked into the extended-stay hotel on Saturday and was scheduled to check out today, hotel spokesman Chris Diebel said.
This morning, Gray's relatives called the hotel to ask the staff to check on him because they could not reach him by phone, Urbandale police Sgt. Dave Disney said. Gray was found alone, apparently dead, and employees called 911.
Diebel said the hotel staff had not seen or heard anything out of the ordinary before finding Gray's body.
The musician had stayed at the hotel before and was remembered as being a quiet and respectful guest, Diebel said.
There was no evidence of foul play in Gray's death, but the investigation is ongoing, police said. An autopsy, including toxicology tests, is scheduled to be done Tuesday, Disney said.
Disney would not disclose today whether anything of interest was found in Gray's room or why Gray was staying at the hotel.
Will: thanks man. They still are one of my favorite bands. I feel really sorry for you too honestly, knowing they're your favorite band. This just seems so unreal.
sucks that he died, but no comparison between him being a bassist in a nu metal band and what Dio did for metal. Slipknot can still go on without him, where Dio and Heaven and Hell cant without Dio
Ill be honest, I fucking loved Slipknot, had an entire folder of just cut-outs and posters. Selftitled changed my life. Never stopped listening to it during my 8th grade year. Iowa also changed my life with how damn heavy it seemed to me. Vol. 3 was good, only reason it was recieved bad was because it was under the name 'Slipknot,' hence it was expected to be all heavy. AHIG was a terrible album I thought besides Psychosocial and All Hope is Gone. Also, Snuff was an awesome song. Ill continue listening to em every now and again, and I do think this death was a huge blow to the metal community, as was Dio's and Jimmy Sullivan and Pete Steele's. Just hope we can go possibly even a month without a member of the metal community dieing. RIP Paul. Way too young.
I hear it fine. I could never hear it for the longest time though I think bass guitar is hard to hear live even for cannibal corpse when everything else is playing. I couldn't hear alex Webster unless he did a solo
I guess its truth telling time. I haven't listened to a single album in its entirety from them. Just a few songs here and there. So basically I enjoy their live show, but other than that I dont care.

But still, maybe it's just because I don't find Paul or SlipKnoT relevant anymore.
