I think the importance of an allied Pacific naval base could have been a factor too...
I'll honestly be a tad surprised if this really becomes a big deal, because half of NK's foreign policy is "we'll we'll nuke you if you don't do _____." If the country responds firmly, they won't nuke anybody.

Mutually Assured Destruction is a bit outdated, as it was only relevant when two nuclear countries attacked each other. NK doesn't have the capability, and Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons.
