Earlier in the week New Orleans officials gave their approval to a development group that would like to transform the former Six Flags New Orleans site into an upscale outlet mall.
Jazzland Mall is proposed to have a total of 400,000 square feet of space filled with stores, restaurants, amusement park rides, and athletic fields.
The amusement park site, originally opened as Jazzland, was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The park last operated as Six Flags New Orleans before it fell victim to the storm.
The developer expects the first phase of the project, worth $60 million, may create 2,000 jobs. The next stage for the developer is to secure financing before a deal will be finalized.
You tryin to be a hero fool? You wanna see badass mother fucker?! I'll show ya a badass!!!
Yeah, I heard about it a few days back. I'm just glad they're not gonna let it continue to let it rot away. Every time I'd pass around there I'd get upset and shit. But the proposed concept seems cool. I guess we'll see what happens.
I went 4 years ago and haven't been back. It wasn't anything special. I ended up spending the majority of the my time at Schlitterbahn which is a place I do go to often.
