Tim and I were talking about ways to make this site more noob friendly, a tour category might help with that.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Tim has kind of convinced me to advertise this place because he says we get so many page views a day. If I do that, I'll want this place a lot easier for new people to understand and navigate.

If I were to advertise I would just make it seem like a metal forum, not anyway linked to Mayhem Festival.

I sort of like it this way. But if you mean categorizing the tours, do you mean like a "black metal tours" thread, "death metal tours thread" etc?
