The Justice Department is ready to sue Arizona over its new immigration law, according to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
In an interview with television station NTN 24 in Ecuador, Clinton said, "President Obama has spoken out against the law because he thinks that the federal government should be determining immigration policy. And the Justice Department, under his direction, will be bringing a lawsuit against the act."
Both Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have said that the Arizona law, scheduled to take effect July 29, is under review as possibly being unconstitutional.
In response to Clinton's comment, the U.S. Department of Justice, said "the department continues to review the law."
The law requires local law enforcement officers to question the citizenship status of anyone they stop for a possible crime if that person gives them reasonable suspicion they may be in the United States illegally.
The suit has caused a firestorm across the nation, with critics complaining that the law will lead to racial profiling. Several cities and states have announced boycotts of Arizona because of the law. Public opinion polls, however, show a majority of U.S. citizens support it.

I don't see anything in that article saying that they are repealing the bill based on whether it is unconstitutional, they're making it a matter of states' rights. That's the complete wrong way to deal with it.

I agree it's not the right way to do it, but it's better than letting the law sit there.
The federal government is feeling threatend by a state taking action on something the federal government has ignored for years, so what do they do? File a lawsuit, claiming immigration policy is a federal issue, which it is, but it is an issue they have ignored for too long. Our government is a joke. It's about time they put the political bullshit aside and just do their job.

They're suing over the wrong issue.

If it gets it repealed, then that's fine, but I'd hate to have this bill enacted because of a fuck up in the justice department.
WHAT THE FUCK.
