This was one of those shows where you think it's going to be epic... and it turns out only half epic. I'll make this review short and to the point.
Bison BC: Great opener. Really impressed me.
Black Cobra: Instrumentally, badass. Vocally, meh. I was on the stage edge so the speakers were about 2 feet behind me pointed out, so I couldn't really hear the vocals.
Priestess: All I knew was Lay Down. The rest of their set was cool I guess.
High On Fire: This is probably where you expect me to rave about how awesome everything was that they did. Sadly, no. I was right in front of Pike the whole time, so I couldn't hear the vocals through the PA. Also, his guitar almost COMPLETELY drowned out the drums, and the whole time, he was telling them to turn his guitar up. Whatever.
So I looked at their setlist when they laid it out and noticed that they play all my favorite songs (Fury Whip, Rumors of War, Snakes for the Divine) except for Tiamat.
Too bad they chose not to play Fury Whip because our crowd wasn't "into it enough". So thanks to them, me and about 10 other people who WERE into it got hosed.
If you're going to this, try to make sure your crowd is amped... other wise...yeah.
Good thing was I got the setlist and one of Pike's picks. But wait! There's another slap to the face!:
After I got the setlist, the place was clearing out pretty well. Matt was on the other side of a rope about 12 feet from me. As I started walking over to have him sign my setlist, a security guard stopped me and said that I couldn't speak to him since I "didn't have a yellow wristband". Matt Pike, one of my favorite guitarists... was right there. And I was being told I couldn't have him sign the setlist, much less converse with him because I lacked apparatus which wrapped around my arm. So what did I do? Argued with the guard and called out Matt's name. He turned around and looked but by this time, I was being escorted out by the fucking guard. FML.
I love winning with women

Anyway. Sorry it sucked sir. They can't all be 11/10's as Erik would say.
Was High on Fire's pick logoed or no? I would have gotten one off the stand if they were, but I thought they weren't.
No they weren't logoed which was kind of disappointing.
Spot on, perfect sound for such a small venue. Vocals were a bit low early, but they improved as the show progressed. Hands down best time I've seen them.

Don't let this show dissuade you from seeing them again.
Rise up, fall down
Gazing at gold, the ancient crime
Rise up, fall down
Cities come alive and they will die
Rise up, fall down
Ten thousand years are left behind
Rise up, rise up tonight
