Page numbers arrived with a general update to the forum code, including a more effective HTML parser. That parser is more strict with rejecting downie code.
Its kind of a war we have to constantly fight, against people trying to embed malicious shit in their comments. If we didn't have strict validation, Your accounts would be vulnerable to cross site scripting attacks, and noone wants that.
