Wow that's a fuckin slap on the wrist. Luhnow, Hinch and Cora should be banned for life and players need to be suspended. Put an asterisk next to the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Manfred's a fuckin pussy. Any team would give up $5 million and 1st and 2nd round draft picks for 2 years to win a world series. The loss of draft picks is only gonna hurt like 5 years from now and $5 million is chump change to a MLB owner.

I just saw they stole signs. Why should those players be banned for life? Just haven’t paid attention.
None of those guys are players. Hinch is the manager, Luhnow is the GM and Cora was the bench coach of the Astros in 2017 and current manager of the red sox. Now the red sox are being investigated for sign stealing. Hinch and Luhnow were just fired and Cora prolly will be too after the investigation. The Commissioner just put out a statement that said he's not gonna go after the players for this because it was the managers' and GM's jobs to let the players know this kinda shit is illegal now. And since Hinch and Luhnow knew it was going on but didn't do anything to stop it and more than likely encouraged it, they each got suspended for the 2020 season.
Cora's not gonna manage again. He's done. They identified him as the ringleader. The only reason they haven't done anything yet is they're investigating the Red Sox. The Astros threw him under the bus. Jon_Taffer said:

The players have the backing of the MLBPA who would have fought it. No such issue with management.
I don't think that contract will age well. He's already 34. I could be wrong tho. Guys like Cruz and Encarnacion are still performing pretty well into their late 30's. But paying $23 million for a 37-38 year old 3B doesnt sound like a good idea.
It's so much more than the buzzers. They would light up parts of the scoreboard for certain pitches, they would relay the signs to bullpen catchers to stand in certain places in the bullpen for offspeed pitches. During the postseason when it was too loud to hear trashcan banging, they would have distinct whistles that batter's would listen for. There's pictures of the whole laptop/TV monitor set up they had in the tunnel between the dugout and the clubhouse. I know that most teams probably are bending the rules with the sign stealing stuff but the Astros went above and beyond and it really payed off for them. I cant wait to see what the Red Sox are guilty of now. I been knew they were stealing signs since last year when they got caught with the apple watch in the dugout.
I get it tho. If the Yankees were trash rn and the Tigers got bounced from the playoffs twice by the the Astros, you would be just as mad as I am. I just think the punishment doesnt really go far enough. Hinch and Luhnow will prolly get new jobs in 2021 and $5 million ain't shit to an MLB owner. The loss of draft picks will hurt in the future but it doesnt do anything to hurt the team now. They'll prolly be contenders again next year even with a new manager. I really hope pitchers go after them next year. Whoever pitches against them on opening day should make a statement and bean the very first batter on the first pitch.
Yeah. If you pick up some tendencies on the field and you have a guy on second base or something and hes relaying signs, im cool with that. Thats just really gamesmanship. All this technology stuff though, id probably rather have guys in there that are juiced up lol.
I think its funny that justin verlander was outspoken about disagreeing witn stealing sign, and then he was traded to the astros )z
