Nice chunk of change for deGrom. Players would rather take what they can get right now while they're still under contract instead of testing the market and getting nothing close to their real value. Trout would have probably had every single team bidding on him though.
Yankees need Sherzer but the Nats are too stupid to trade him. Bumgarner is trash now. Stroman is okay but not a huge upgrade. Just a solid middle of the rotation kinda guy.
That Reds/Pirates brawl though. Even the managers got into it. Puig got traded to Cleveland as the brawl was going down, that would have been a disaster if he got hurt.
Reds got Bauer whose last moment as an Indian is chucking the ball over the center field wall lol.
I didn't think the Indians were gonna trade Bauer either. I know the Giants won't trade Bumgarner and the Mets won't trade Syndergaard so the best option left is Minor and he's got a no-trade clause.
Everyone's too scared to give up their prospects now. Astros got Greinke without even giving up their best 3 prospects. Pretty sure they don't regret trading for Verlander and the Cubs don't regret paying for 3 months of Aroldis Chapman.
His way of running a team by trading away top prospects and handing out long term contracts goes against what every team wants to do now. He got their ring but Boston has the worst farm system in baseball now. Sounds familiar.
