The one that can only score by hitting home runs, never kicks anyone when they are down, has a shaky closer, can't hit in the clutch, and has only two decent starters
or the one that can't score, never kicks anyone when they are down, has a shaky closer, can't hit in the clutch, and has the worst defense in baseball.
Either team that makes it most likely won't make it past the first round of playoffs
well that's where you never know. Look at the Cardinals last year. They were easily the worst team among playoff teams and they won it all. If one of them can get hot, you never know. I think thats been kind of the pattern in baseball now.

You refuted your own point when you brought up the fact that all you need to do is get into the playoffs to have a chance.......as well as acknowledged who has the better rotation.....
Maybe, but just because you have the better pitching right now, that doesnt really mean anything. Both teams have alot of flaws. The Sox are one of the best defensive teams in all of baseball and have hit the second most HR's. The Tigers have a slight edge in ERA and have a better team BA, but they are the slowest team in baseball and are worse defensively than any team in baseball.
I don't have a real lot of confidence in the Sox right now but its been such and up and down year that could change tonight or over the weekend. Either way, I don't know how either fan base could feel real good about their team.
Yeah, because starting pitching means nothing. 8-| It's definitely a reason for the Tigers to believe that if they can get in, they could be dangerous in the playoffs. A playoff rotation of Verlander, Fister, Scherzer, and Sanchez/Porcello matches up well with just about any rotation of the other contenders in the AL. The offense is inconsistent but still has two of the best hitters in baseball. The White Sox are getting career years from a number of players offensively, a great year from Sale, a comeback year from Peavy, and play in one of the easiest ballparks to hit a home run. It might just be their year this season, but if they get in, I don't think they're as well equipped in the postseason as the Trigers.
