I wanna like the Phillies this year. I have never hated them, maybe because I don't have any vested interest in the National League. I don't think they are the Yankees of the National League at all. For one, they lack the Championships and for two they have only recently had one of the higher payrolls in baseball.
And the Braves are the Angels of the NL, just average and not good enough...
You can say whatever you want about Phillies fans, our stadium is always sold out no matter what. Stepoff nephew =;
Let me ask you sumthin......was the Phillies selling out almost every game 5-8 years ago when they were getting 2nd or 3rd place?
Even the Rays sold out a lot in the year they made the playoffs + the year after, that shows nothing about the team.
And when the Phillies won the WS, didn't several fans get arrested for setting stuff on fire, or tipping over cars, stuff like that? - Nobody likes the Yankees B-)
Phillies fans have a reputation as being jackass for a reason it is nothing new George. They don't bother me except one time buy it could be worse you could be cubs fans.
Philly is a good team and will continue to live up to the hype especially if the starting pitching stays healthy all year. Braves will have to shoot for a wild card if they stay healthy as well
You tryin to be a hero fool? You wanna see badass mother fucker?! I'll show ya a badass!!!
CF is exactly right, philly fans are rowdy and obnoxious, but nothing more then that. its just as bad as any other team, just anything ever mentioned negative in philly gets blown up by the national media...
a few days ago dodgers fans beat a giants fan till he was in ctritical condition, when the lakers won, madd riots, when the canadiens lost to the flyers, they rioted. NY tore apart its city when the giants won. it happens everywhere, philly is just the poster child for it. i said this and i'll say it again, i've been to hundreds of sporting events, I never saw anyone beat up another fan for no reason. i see heckling and fucking around, but no violence, and its like that anywhere, i'm sure if i showed up in atlanta with all my phillies gear some fans would fuck around, its expected. every city has dumbass fans that take it too far, not just philly..
and speaking of the WS win in philly, everyone was expecting riaots for days and us to burn the entire city to the ground, i think there was only a dozen arrests, sure a few idiots fucked around and did dumb stuff, but that happens in every fucking city anytime someone wins the championship. noone was killed or severly injured, we just partied hard. philly didnt come close to the destruction LA fans did when they won the championship, or NY.
i understand all the hate for philly fans cause its beat into your head by national media faggots, but its really not as bad as people say. if you go to youtube and type in any teams name with the word fight after it, you'll find idiot fans beating the shit out of eachother acting a fool. yeah, we love our teams and celebrate them, but only a few idiots go overboard, but its the same in every city <_>
I will fully admit a few years ago I went to reds phillies here in cincy on my birthday. The fans that were wearing Philly shit around me were among the most obnoxious assholes I have ever seen thus why I believe the stereotype however the cardinals fans have given me personally the most problems maybe it is because of division rival I do not know but there is a reason Philly gets the rep it does. And for now they are my pick to make the world series in the NL though it pains me to say it I think philly will beat the reds in the nlcs to go to the world series. It is still very very early but that's my early pick
You tryin to be a hero fool? You wanna see badass mother fucker?! I'll show ya a badass!!!
yeah man, I know we have a rowdy fanbase, but that doesnt mean everyone is violent. NY, LA are just as bad if not worse...
Philly is my pick to win the East, I cant make any predictions further then that. all i can say is i'm excited, their offense looks great even without their best player utley, when they get him back it will be like a midseason trade for a superstar. the lineup rotation is living up to its name, so far halladay is halladay, he's just like a fucking machine. I've never seen a pitcher like this before in my lifetime play for the phillies. he's unbelieveable. i'm very impressed with oswalts start, hamels bounced back nice today with a 8K's 7 inning shutout, Lee got rocked in the 1st game against atlanta, but looked good in his first game, and he's the type of player that will be on and off, but once its crunch time and the playoffs, he's great. i expect 15+ games from all their starters this year if healthy. even blanton threa an alright game, he got rocked hard in the 6th, but it was his first sdtart, it takes a few games for these guys to build up stamina. to say i'm excited is an understatement, should be a great year. but right now i am focused on the 16 games the FLyers are about to win :>
There is so much that has to happen and go right for your team to win the world series. Alot of it is having a great team, but alot of it is luck. Just look at the Giants last year. They were 51-50 at the all star break and it took a 10 game losing streak by the Padres right at the end of the year, for them to even get in the playoffs. Then they get hot and win the World Series. You never know what's gonna happen.

Is it true when they won the WS that several fans got arrested for setting stuff on fire, or tipping over cars, stuff like that?
