I'm wondering if you guys could help me out a bit as well. I'm looking for epic/symphonic folk metal bands that sound like Equilibrium. You know, a heavy emphasis on the keys and a bit medieval-sounding. Harsh vocals only is a plus, but not necessary. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Nile Amon amarth I guess maybe chimaira. I'm not too into them but they're alright goatwhore I think someone mentioned nuclear death terror. Definitely check them out. You can find them on that free metal site someone posted on here

Turisas for sure, the entire Battle Metal album is epic as shit.
And to the OP, Skeletonwitch. Specifically Breathing The Fire and Beyond The Permafrost.
"The lack of Skeletonwitch there is making me rethink my college choices..."
I hope you're not serious. Almost every metal tour comes within 2-3 hours of Ann Arbor, most of the time even less. Detroit is less than an hour away, and they're going to implement a train system for free rides from Ann Arbor to Detroit and back if you don't have a car...

Moonsorrow of course
I am twelve and what is this.
also get yourself Falkenbach and Thurisaz (Belgium) ... there are few bands with the same name, the belgians are the good ones. Thurisaz > Turisas
Moonsorrow are my favourite band.

I'm going to college to learn, not go to shows.
However if I could get into a school like Johns Hopkins, which is one of the best schools in the country and gets great metal shows, I'm in.
