1. The Ocean - Heliocentric 2. Triptykon - Eparistera Daimonos 3. Heathen - Evolution of Chaos 4. Ihsahn - After 5. Martriden - Encounter the Monolith 6. Landmine Marathon - Sovereign Descent 7. High on Fire - Snakes for the Divine 8. Arsis - Starve for the Devil 9. Darkthrone - Circle the Wagons 10. Unleashed - As Yggdrasil Trembles 11. Dark Tranquillity - We Are the Void
If The Ocean is #1 at the end of the year either it's a real grower, or this year was disappointing.
Monotheist was my first experience with CF, so I was sucked in, and worked my way back from there. And Triptykon has grown on me a lot, even though I loved it initially.

But I think it's going to be topped.
"I thought it was meh. But I haven't listened to the whole thing yet. "
The last two songs are the best songs they've ever done, if you ask me.
I didn't think Heliocentric would outdo it, and I think it's an absolutely stellar release. I could see it growing past Heliocentric too.
"i've tried but i just can't get into Triptykon"
Try Celtic Frost's Monotheist first, then try it again. I don't think I would have liked it if Triptykon was my first CF-esque material.

also Fidus Achates by Arcanum Sanctum has surpassed Eluveitie as my album of the year. they are defiantly a band ya need to give a chance
Use of keys intrigues me though, because there aren't very many current bands I like very much that use keys that often.
